This week in #Firebase – October 7

fbWelcome again to my weekly post of great stuff that’s happening in the Firebase community! If you have any great posts, articles, videos, samples or blogs, please reach out to me, and I’ll cover them in a future column.

On the Official Firebase Blog, we published a number of great new articles including Todd Kerpelman’s look at Group Security in the Firebase Database.

We also learned about 6 reasons to attend the Firebase Dev Summit! There’s a seventh. I’ll be there! 🙂 I’m going to be speaking about….well, you’re just going to have to wait! 🙂

Doug Stevenson’s ongoing series about being a Firebase Taskmaster had a new post — this time about multi-taskmastering. Check it out, or follow in it’s spirit and read it while doing lots of other things simultaneously!

On the Firebase YouTube Channel, David East put out a great video on Anonymous Web Authentication.

Elsewhere ParagonChuy put together an interesting video on livecoding.tv showing skills in React.js by presenting how to build a Realtime Web Chat App in Firebase. Also on livecoding.tv, the user gunn4r produced an interesting video about building a Firebase / Angular app. Nice work!

There’s also a new npm package for JS developers called firebase-reporting which gives you the ability to generate reports based on data stored in firebase. You don’t need an alternate server. Worth checking out!

Also on npm is a firebase-key-encode package that lets you encode and decode your object keys so they’re Firebase friendly. Very useful!

And how did I miss this one last week — an update to the Firebase tutorial for iOS10 and Swift 3 on the always awesome raywenderlich.com.

That’s it for this week. If you have any Firebase related news or content that I can share on this weekly post, let me know!
