TV and #SciFi at its best: Children of #Dune

Just rewatching the SyFy miniseries ‘Children of Dune’, and realizing that wonderful drama, and fabulous TV doesn’t need exhorbitant budgets.

Check out this scene from the show — to the beautiful music of Brian Tyler. More story in here than in most movies. Great stuff. Dune was always a huge influence on me, and the TV version was often ridiculed for its low budget approach to an epic. The first miniseries feels more like a stage play than a TV show — and it’s all the stronger for it. Children of Dune (technically Dune Messiah + Children of Dune) is more movie-like and epic, but terrific stuff. I really wish they had made more — I’d love to have seen ‘God Emperor of Dune’ play out from these folks…

If you haven’t seen them, it’s a great way to spend a few hours, and crank up the sound, particularly in ‘Children’ — love that music! Soundtrack is here on Google Play music if you want to check it out…
